High gas prices like these are common in tourist areas of Orlando.
"Verbum sapient!" Fill up your rental car gas tank before you head to the lake or airport, at least if you are in Orlando. A Shell station on Vineland is selling gas for $6.44 a gallon, some $3 above the national average.

ORLANDO, FL (Catholic Online) - I''s perfectly legal, and the price is posted out front of the station. However, motorists are still in for a shock.

Many motorists visiting the nearby Lake Buena Vista, a popular tourist destination, use the filling station because of its proximity to the lake.

Likewise, prices at stations near the Orlando International Airport are also high, well above $5 per gallon. This is a rude awakening for customers who are returning rental cars to the airport and are in a hurry to catch a flight.

Signs on the roads into the area warn travelers of the high prices, but many are still surprised when they pull in and see just how high they really are.

The national average was $3.17 per gallon as of Monday.
