The unidentified woman approached the gentle creatures at Fort DeSoto Park last weekend. Other visitors photographed her as she proceeded to swim with, and at one point ride, a manatee. Visitors contacted the sheriff's department, but the woman disappeared before they arrived. The sheriff's office did say that no manatees were known to be injured.
